Larry Mackey joined the Giant team in March of 2003 as the company Field Man. He brought with him a vast amount of knowledge and experience consisting of 7 ½ years with the Oregon Inspection Service, 5 years with American Fine Foods, Inc., 16 years with Henry Amheny Co.; as well as, Muir Roberts Co. later known as Snake River Produce, LLC. Larry met his beautiful wife Karen while working at American Fine Foods. He later married her in 1978. Together they raised 5 children and are now enjoying 9 grandchildren who keep them busy attending ballgames and school functions. As a "young" man, Larry served 4 years in the USMC during the Vietnam War. He is a proud life member of the VFW in New Plymouth, Idaho and helps the FFW Post in any way he can. As a more "mature" man, Larry is an avid fisherman who always has a good story to tell. He enjoys spending every spare minute he can find out in his boat with his best friend and bride Karen. From time to time he takes his 81 year old mother from whom he inherited his love for the sport. The insight and relationships that Larry has acquired and established throughout his numerous years in the onion industry is greatly valued at Giant: We are very fortunate and happy to have him as a team member. As an active volunteer with the Idaho-Eastern Oregon Onion Committee, he is serving his seventh year as Chairman. Prior to this, he held the position of Vice Chairman for eight years. He also served ten years on the Research Committee. | ![]() |
