Giant Produce takes food safety seriously. For the previous four years, our facility has been monitored and inspected by Primus Labs, a third party auditor. During this process our facility has been updated to provide the most safe and clean environment possible to ensure a secure product. Not only have we focused on food safety, we have implemented employee safety programs and hygiene programs and education. We have also educated ourselves with good management practices and accident prevention curriculums. We have found that education and prevention are the most important steps to maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Currently, our Primus rating is a Superior. We are very proud of those marks, a Superior Rating is the highest level of scoring that Primus recognizes. Our next audit will be in the fall of 2004. Remember, not only does the Primus audit include food safety measures and cleanliness, it also monitors trace back or recall programs. We are proud of our recall system and it is tested annually for accuracy.
Along these same lines, due to the recent terrorism attacks on our country, the US Food and Drug Administration has required handlers of food products to register for the 2002 Food and Drug Bioterrorism Act. Giant Produce has registered, as required by law, for the US Food & Drug Administration Bioterrorism Act. We will keep you posted on this site in our news updates to any future information that comes forth in regards to this Act and or others.
